great, intelligent question! Agreed, this subject is emotional, and to give an objective answer may be futile, but just pointing out some facts may help. One fact is, mccain is obviously tied to closely to the bush ideology regarding iraq and our continued presence there. This is, of course, the sound bite often used against mccain (and rightly so). But another argument seldom proffered is mccain will continue the republican philosophy regarding the economy and the environment--two subjects mccain is weak on, and will no doubt continue to be uneducated on, and will no doubt employ many of the same people bush has appointed--and our country's policies will remain the same. Finally (and i think most important) : a mccain victory will allow him to appoint more conservative fundamentalists to the supreme court, and this will endanger roe v. wade and a woman's right to choose. I know there are many women backing hillary, and these women are probably firm in their belief that a woman has an inherent right to determine what she does or does not do with her own body (and i agree). But what if roe v. wade is overturned? then the government now will be telling these women that the government will now determine what these women can and cannot do (legally). What gauls me is the hypocracy of the right wing--they say they want less government yet they want to change control of a woman's body from her to the government! Unfortunately, there are so many sound bites out there that it is difficult to have intelligent dialogue--emotions run deep--but lets hope the hillary-to-mccain voters (whether men or women) understand that they should vote democrat no matter what. And i think hillary will eventually stump for obama (should he be the nominee) and explain to her backers the need for party unity. If she doesn't, and mccain does win, many will blame hillary (rightly or wrongly) for the party's defeat and she will never get elected. Great question, have a star!
Why would you want to do that for? They are a lot smarter voting for McCain. How would Obama supporters try to win over Clinton supporters who say they will vote for McCain ?
They can't....!
The damage is done!
The guy above me is one of the reasons!
@Jeb77....is another big reason!
Calling us racist is not the way!
No they can't!
That is the CHANGE that will not happen!
THEY CAN'T...
Hillary supporters will not vote for a Black Liberation Theologist and Marxist. Hillary supporters denounce the racism and leftist political beliefs of Obama and his friends. How would Obama supporters try to win over Clinton supporters who say they will vote for McCain ?
de gonna hand out some kool aide.
Just Kidding about the kool aide.
It will be hard to lure Clinton supporters. This campaign has been vicious, and Obama supporters have ostracized and verbally beaten Clinton supporters to the point of having them hate Obama. Also, Clinton's supporters are fiercely loyal to her. Many are more loyal to her than to the party.
They'll campaign together, he'll reach out and use some of Clinton's people. And all the attacks on the Democrats will push Clinton supporters home. They aren't going to listen to six months of Democrat bashing and then vote for McCain. They'll come home. If Romney supports can back McCain then Clinton supporters will be all over Obama come November. It happens every year.
Just play tapes of Bush presidency and ask if they really want four more years of that.
Actually, it is Hillary who will have to contribute to the healing, which I firmly believe she will.
They might start by not calling them names.
There's no reason to win people over to support Obama. We have enough racists in this country already.
McCain all the way.
Dave87gn is a representative for the Obama faction..at this point there is NOTHING they could EVER do to persuade me to vote Obama..they are unbelievably vile and so is their candidate...
You see all that hate by the Obama supporters....well that figures, because after all they support a HATER....any doubt, look who has been his close friends and mentors, go to that church one Sunday and you will know why we would never support him...and I mean NEVER!
I do not want some racist anti american black guy as my president. Hes lies all the time.

His ideas are unethical.
http://www.obamanation.com/1.html
his record is embarassing
http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congr鈥?/a>
And he is smearing John McCain who is a hero
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Dx09W-nP鈥?/a>
Just a few of the reasons I will not vote for him. He can buy superdelegates but he can't ever buy my vote
I'd point out I am a white male that supports Obama and ask how the hell voting for McCain given my status could cause me any harm then flat out laugh at a bunch of ignorant sexist women.
Anyone who says they're going to switch from Clinton to McCain is
a. not really a democrat in the first place
b. lying cause they're mad right now.
c. a racist for abandoning the party over a black guy
That would mean that those Hillary supporters are really conservatives because they vote against candidates not for a candidate.
there's noway we will vote for McCain no matter what he dose or say
I'm not worried. Those so-called Clinton supporters are Republicans. They want Clinton to face McCain because they know McCain can beat her.
I'm not worried. Obama has locked the nomination.
People have a choice to make... They can support Obama whose platform is virtually identical to Clintons. Or, they can try to make some sort of statement and see John McCain take the White House.
If it's really about changing the direction of the country, it seems to me the course is pretty clear.
Obama 2008
u'd have 2 b stupid 2 vote 4 another "George W. Bush" i mean does any1 really want another republican president. the USA is already going down b/c of Bush. I am a US citizen and I HATE G.W.B.
OBAMA 2008
They'll say they won't support Obama until he is the official nominee. As long as they think Hillary has a chance, they will say they won't vote for Obama so as to make the case against him stronger and the case for Hillary stronger.
After Obama officially wraps it up, and the choice is Obama or McCain, we'll see real Democrats go behind Obama.
