Why is Barack Obama considered the first black african american president when his mother is white?

If you have parents that are from different countries or race you are not considered either or. So, why is it that Mr.Obama is considered black when he is half black/white. If anything he is the first inter-racial president not black.Why is Barack Obama considered the first black african american president when his mother is white?
Obama embraces aspects of his blackness, which allows whites to see him as an authentic repository of their historical guilt from which he can absolve them.



I appreciate that it is really something to have our first black president, and some people are joyful about this historical event.



But even the great Martin Luther King Jr. would probably be turning over in his grave because people have failed to listen to his message. He said a man should be judged by his character and not be the color of his skin. Obama has failed to show good character. o_O
You are, of course, correct but that does not fit the Liberal template so Obama must be Black as far as they are concerned. He is actually the first interracial President not the first Black President.



He was abandoned very early in life by his African Father and raised completely by the White part of his family. It seems to me he is far more "White" than Black in his experience living in a upper middle class family in Hawaii. His Grandparents raised him. Grandpa was the manager of a furniture company and his Grandma was a Bank President. He attended private schools and Ivy League Universities. He is a lot closer to George Bush than Al Sharpton in his experience if you ask me.

This is because the old American definition of "*****", sorry for using the word you americans, you probably goes bananas for me saying it but well: "a ***** is a person with one ***** ancestor."



Hence, Obama is a *****, or to use the Political Correct word: black. This goes to the extreme: some of the "black Americans" are in fact so white, you can't see they are black, but hey, they have one "*****" ancestor, and hence is counted as "black".



It's some kind of racism. (and the stars here means n e g r o. I don't see what is wrong with the word.)

Obama may be half white but from a physical stand point then man is BLACK. His skin hair and facial features are that of a black man and not a white man. If Obama looked physically white then that's what society would see him as regardless if he had black in him. Besides, liberals would never ever call Obama "biracial" because this would take away

People will believe anything the media tells them thats why. Obama is playing the race card because he knows blacks already voted for him for that reason. Besides his father came straight from Africa so he does not have any american slave ancestory. He is a mulatto, and an oreo not a black man. Besides how can you be racist to a man who is half white just because the black shows more does not mean he is a black man. I feel like jumping into a mud puddle so people will call me black to.
Almost every single black person in America is exactly that: African-American



That is because the slave owners in the 19th Century and before had sex with their slaves, and thus their sons were considered to be black or African American.



Thus, he is exactly that: African-American (African father, American mother)
BECAUSE he fits our country's historical definition of black. If he was running around in Mississippi in the 1940's he would have had to sit in the back of the bus, use the water fountains marked "colored" etc. He would not have been able to eat in restaurants. That's why.

I view Obama as an Oreo. He has a black outside, but some white on the middle.Since it's not very PC to call your President an Oreo, we just say black.
At least he knows his Daddy.
Technically, he isn't black. He's half black. But he's the most black that any of our presidents have been.
