What would be different if Obama had agreed to the town hall meetings?

If Senator Obama had only agreed to the town halls, McCain wouldn't be selling-out the last shreds of honor or integrity just to get elected.

How would things be different if Obama had agreed to the Town Halls? What would be different if Obama had agreed to the town hall meetings?
The town hall meetings were supposed to favor McCain. But now McCain has effectively cut himself off from public questioning and public opinion, and he avoiding the debates whenever possible (he's only had two press sessions since August 14th for a total of 20 minutes). He's trying to see if he can coast into the White House on his record (as bad as it may be) without sticking his foot in his mouth. Same thing with Palin, few and then carefully cloistered and vetted appearances. What would be different if Obama had agreed to the town hall meetings?
I don't see why these "town hall meetings" are such a big deal.

They were never anything more than some folksy, controlled format thought up by the McCain campaign. No politician in his right mind would have chosen this above formal, moderated debates. It's not 1950.What would be different if Obama had agreed to the town hall meetings?
The town hall meeting were nothing but another McCain gimmick.. Aren't you people tired of gimmicks yet??
